Overland Corner (Murray River)

Overland Corner is a locality in the Australian state of South Australia located in the state's east about 181 kilometres north-east of the state capital of Adelaide and about 30 kilometres west of the municipal seat in Berri.

The town of Waikerie derives its name from Weikari, which is claimed to literally mean 'the rising'. This refers to the emergence of many ghost moths (Hepialidae) from the ground among the river red gums after heavy rain. Waikerie is well-known for citrus growing and gliding, as the flat dry terrain provides good thermals.

Known originally as North West Bend, the Great Bend or the Great Elbow, Morgan is located on the West Bank of the Murray River. This historic town was once the greatest river port in South Australia and the site of the famous Nor-West Bend Sheep Station.

Located on the Murray River, Ngaut Ngaut is Australia's first Aboriginal archeological dig. Highlights include rock art, smoke stains from ancient fires and an excavated campsite of an 8,000-year-old civilization.

Mannum is a rustic town on the banks of the Murray River that rose to prominence with the advent of the paddle steamer transport industry in the 1850's. It has an active boating tradition, and its variety of natural parks caters to outdoor enthusiasts.
